Jon Berlin
Jon is Proprietor and Winemaker. He was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. He moved to Cape Town when he was 18 and after a year in the Navy, spent the next 10 pursuing his passion for surfing which included his own business manufacturing boards. He fell into the wine business from the restaurant business and to get his start worked 7 back-to-back harvests bouncing between the Northern and Southern hemispheres, working at Flagstone, Flowers, Hamilton Russell, back to Flowers, Brokenwood, Nga Waka and Joseph Phelps. He topped it off with a Post-graduate degree in Viticulture and Enology from Lincoln University in Christchurch, NZ. He was the Associate Winemaker at Viader for 2004 and 2005 and now divides him time between El Molino and three new consulting winemaking projects in Napa Valley.
