Connoisseurs’ Guide to California Wine
Rich and remarkably complex in the nose with elements of toast, roasted nuts and sweet smoke joining a solid measure of precise, apple-like fruit, this deeply filled wine follows suit in the mouth with big, but neatly proportioned flavors that are long on juicy apples and sweet oak spice. It is quite well-balanced for the big-bodied Chardonnay that it is, and its scant suggestions of last-minute heat are more than adequately buffered by persistent impressions of fruity richness. Its sheer opulence invites drinking now but we would hold off a bit.

El Molino’s lovely 2006 Chardonnay reveals notions of white peaches, honeysuckle, and caramelized oranges. This clean, pure, ripe, medium to full-bodied, fresh white possesses impressive complexity as well as purity. It should drink nicely for another two years. – Robert Parker, December 2008

Wine Enthusiast
You might not expect Chardonnay, a cool-climate wine, to thrive in the warmth of a Rutherford summer. But El Molino consistently makes a really nice one. The ’06 is ripely forward in tropical fruit and pear flavors that are enriched with caramel cream and smoky vanilla. But it also has a crisp acidity that gives the wine balance and zest.
